Avondale 1-3 Juniors
MSL Junior Div 2
Sunday 2/9/18 10.45am

Team: Darren Holland, Martin Sullivan, Chris Harrington, Ryan Doonan, Gavin O’Connell, King Iyalla, James Campbell, Tom McCarthy, Richie O’Regan (c), Jack Wycherley, James McSweeney

Goals: Richie O’Regan, King Iyalla, Martin Sullivan

The Junior team turned up to this match very determined and well organised. Right from the back line who defended and worked as a unit, and the midfielders working tirelessly as well. However, Avondale were still dominating from midfield which happened to be their only threat. It wasn’t long before they found the back of the net from a solo run from their number 6.

This seemed to have woken the Bandon boys because they came back fighting straight away. Solid performances from James McSweeney up front, King Iyalla, powerful and determined Tom McCarthy with James Campbell in midfield. They got their reward as their goal came from a free kick which was whipped in by Richie O”Regan and straight into the net. 1-1 it stood until half time.

The second half started with Bandon’s manager Eddie Andepu making a tactical switch in midfield which happened to be the place where Avondale were dominating play from. This switch paid because Bandon became dominant and began playing good football, making their opponents looked very ordinary on their own pitch.
A quick ball through from James McSweeney to King in the 83rd mins  and with the goal keeper at his mercy, King wasted no time as he found the back of the net. 2-1 to Bandon.

Despite Avondale trying everything possible to get back into the game Bandon held their ground and kept fighting and kept moving the ball around trying to wind down the clock until the 90th min when a low cross from substitute Mark O”Driscoll found Martin O”Sullivan to slot in the 3rd goal for Bandon.

Another wonderful all round performance from the Bandon boys. They come away with 3 well deserved points from Avondale.

Well done to all the team, but unfortunately there can only be on man of the match…

Man of the match: Tom McCarthy

Subs:
Jeremy Collins for O’Connell (25)
Ross Moynihan for O’Regan (67)
Mark O’Driscoll for Jack Wycherly (77)
