Bandon 1-0 Blarney

25th April 2013

Both teams went into the game knowing a win would put them in control off their own destiny with regard to promotion to the premier division.

The game was played at a tentative pace to begin with but teams sussing each other out and both teams only created half chances but no real clear opportunities. The second half was similar with both teams cancelling each other out and neither side dominating proceedings. But the only goal of the game came from a moment of excellence from a quick Bandon counter attack that saw them use the ball with one and two touches and the ball fell to Holland who turned brilliantly and came inside onto his left and finished into the bottom left corner through the crowd of players and this ended up being the winning goal. The game ended on a sour note with 3 red cards two for Bandon and one for Blarney over what can be best described as handbags and the ref should have shown more discretion  and yellow cards would have been sufficient but Bandon took all 3 points and now are two games away from promotion. Bandon had Benny lynch and John Sullivan in top form with midfield three Audie Dunlea , Gavin Shields and Sean Holland creating opportunities going forward and Holland and Holden were dangerous but man of the match was Ger Harrington. Bandon now move to cup action with a home tie to Castleview Sunday morning.

Goal: Richard Holland

Man of the match: Ger Harrington great energy throughout and quality in possession and worked tirelessly without the ball.
