Bandon 2-1 Strand

15th September 2012

Bandon got their season off to a terrific start with an excellent home win against a very strong strand team. From the beginning you could tell this one was going right to the wire. Bandon had the better of the chance with Shane Lowney coming close with a superb volley from outside the box. There was a great build up to this chance with Mattew Elsonbokhty and Nelson McCarthy been solid through-out the game. Aaron Daly and Adain O’ Mahony been solid in the back line, they kept everyone well organised and started off some great attacks for the Bandon team. Both teams had had some good chance but Ciaran McCarthy was on form to keep Strand at bay. James Campbell started his first game under 14 right full and was solid in the tackle. It was nil all going into half time with both teams cancelling each other out.

Second half begun and Strand started strongest of the two and they were the ones to break the deadlock with a great goal. Bandon never dropped their heads and pushed on to get a back into the game. With 20 minutes to go Peter Callnan came off the bench and lifted Bandon to the next gear and within 5 mins whipped a great free kick into the box which Shane Lowney done great to get on the end of it and made it one all. This spurred Bandon on with 15 minutes the match. Ciaran McCarthy pulled off a wonderful save to keep it at one all. Bandon pushed on to get their second goal in the game. They did this in style with a wonderful individual goal from Peter Callnan to give Bandon all 3 points.
