One week on from their opening day victory and Bandon enjoyed another three points in their first home game of the season. Bandon won 3-2. Bandon came out of the blocks quickly and scored the opener when Tim Hegarty blocked a loose clearance from the Mayfield keeper down and the ball rolled into the net. The early goal spurred Bandon on with Tim completing a rapid fire hatrick with a stunning left foot drive to the top corner and and dink over the keeper when left one on one.
Bandon came out in the second half and conceded two quick goals from a reinvigorated Mayfield who to their credit really went for it. Following the initial shock Bandon reorganised themselves and won the battle in the final 10 minutes where they were unlucky not be awarded a penalty when Tim hegarty was pulled back when clean through and fouled again in the box. The referee waved the protests away despite the protestations from the Bandon fans. Bandon saw the came out and will look to continue their 100% start to the season next week.
MOTM: Tim Hegarty – a super hat trick and an all round good performance.
Honourable mention to Amaechi who’s work rate was phenomenal throughout.
