U14 Boys 6-1 Crosshaven 15 September 2013

Bandon’s U14s got their season off to a winning start with a 6-1 win over Crosshaven at home. The score flatters the performance a bit as it took Bandon a while to find their game. Both teams were evenly matched for the first 25 mins with both sides having chances. 5 minutes before half time Bandon won a corner which James Campbell swung in from the left and was met at the back post by Gavin O’Connell who found the back of the net. Bandon 1-0 up at half time.

Bandon came out in the second half and started to string some passes together and find their men. This paid off after 38 mins when Campbell played a ball through from midfield to O’Connell who made no mistake to score his and Bandon’s second. Naoise Ó’Flaitheartaigh made an immediate impact when he started a move from midfield by passing to Darragh Hurley who beat his man and crossed the ball which Naoise met to finish the move. Bandon 3-0, Crosshaven got their goal after 55 mins. Man of the Match, O’Connell’s 3rd came in the 59th minute when he took Matt Devine’s pass in his stride and made no mistake with the finish. Further goals were added by Brendan Harrington and Adam Mangan. Darragh Hurley made some great runs on the right wing. The back four were very solid throughout the match. Overall a good performance especially in the second half and good to get the season off to a winning start. Well done lads !
