U16 Boys 6-3 Youghal 22nd February 2014

Bandon played Youghal in a top of the table clash with Bandon securing a win after a hard fought contest. Youghal started the better team and after 5 mins were one up when Bandon failed to clear and their centre forward scored. Youghal continued to press and except for two great saves from keeper Shane Collins could have gone further behind. Bandon brought Eoin Nolan back to midfield and this had a major impact on the outcome. Bandon were level after 10 mins when Jordan McCabe was taken down and Denzil Fernandex put the penalty away. 5 mins later Fernandez was put clean through and kept his cool to beat the keeper. After 20 mins it was level again when slack defending allowed Youghal to score.
Bandon went ahead again when the best goal of the game was scored by Colm Dineen after great build up play by Eoin Nolan and Joe Gibson to make it 3-2 at half time.
Bandon’s back line in the 2nd half improved and kept Youghal front line quiet, well done to Joe Gibson, Jack Kelly, James Kelleher, Brian O’Connell and Peter Blake. Bandon went 4-2 ahead when a shot from Eoin Hurley was diverted into the net. Daniel Fernandez, Colm Dineen and Eoin Hurley with Eoin Hurley were now running the show. Denzil then made it 5-2 and scored his hat trick after 55 mins to put it at 6-2. Youghal got a late goal to make the final score 6-3.
Each Bandon player played well in a very tough contest and while it is hard to pick out any player Bandon’s two wingers Jordan McCabe and Daniel Fernandez caught the eye.
