Bandon 2-0 Tramore Athletic

15th September 2012

With both teams after picking up 3 pts. in their opening league fixtures this was always going to be an exciting game. Bandon started well with the pace of Holden, Brendan Cullen and Rob Moore threatening with quality passes in behind the Tramore defence who struggled to deal with Bandon and ended up fouling on regular occasions which saw 4 players yellow carded in the first half. The game saw Bandon knock the ball around well and create 3 clear cut chances which saw Brendan Cullen, Ger Harrington and finally Rob Moore missing with Moores chance the best of the three.

The second half saw Bandon push again for the opening goal and it came after 55 minutes when a free kick from Bradfield crossed and found John Sullivan free who readjusted his body to overhead kick into the bottom corner, this lifted Bandon and seemed to demoralise Tramore whose only real chance was from distance and from two good crosses. Bandon pushed on now and the second came soon after when Moore pressed high and forced a mistake and the ball fell to Holden who beat one man and slotted home into the far bottom corner. This was the killer blow and Tramore were getting tired now and soon after one of the yellows for Tramore turned to red when Cullen pushed the ball down the line to be fouled for the tenth time! Bandon pressed on and were unlucky not to add another goal but after the sending off the game seemed to fade. The final whistle came and it was an excellent result for Bandon who now have 6 from 6 pts and two clean sheets. Bandon now look to an away tie with Cobh next Saturday.
